About the Artist

Ryan Murphy was born in 1979 and grew up in beautiful Muskoka. Even at an early age, he was drawn to illustration. He studied and lived in Windsor, Ontario and received a diploma in Graphic Design. He then moved to Chicago to accompany his wife Jacqueline while she attended Graduate School. In Chicago, he freelanced as a Graphic Designer and continued to flush out his illustration style. After three years living in the states, Ryan and his wife moved back to Canada and set up base in Barrie, Ontario. He has been working in Barrie as a Graphic Designer since 2007, and is currently working towards running his own Illustration business from home.

 

Style

Ryan first started as a traditional artist as computers weren't invented yet. He then moved into painting digitally in Photoshop and used a 4" x 6" Wacom tablet. He has since switched to painting in Corel Painter and upgraded to a 9" x 12" Wacom tablet. Ryan's main goal has always been to create a painting that looks and feels like a traditional painting.
